Second floor
Wislavin Casino, the casino on the second floor
Eight tables and a bar in a single brick room above reception, open in the evenings to hotel guests and to anyone else aged 18 or over who arrives with a photo ID.
Finding it
Two flights up, inside the building.
Come through the main door on ul. Rabiańska and reception is straight ahead. The brick stair runs up the wall to the right of the desk; take it up and the room is in front of you. If stairs are difficult, the lift is in the alcove behind reception, and its second-floor button is marked.
The gaming floor is inside the granary, on the hotel's own second storey, directly over the lobby, so you never step outdoors or leave the building. In a Toruń January you will be glad of it.
A cloakroom sits at the head of the stair with a staffed desk beside it. Bags larger than a small handbag are left in the cloakroom, which is free and stays open until the room closes.
The room itself
About 180 square metres of the original grain floor.
It is a single room. Eight tables stand down the middle under the hoist beams, with a bar along the inner wall and a line of deep window openings on the river side. The ceiling is the underside of the floor above, with the oak joists visible and unpainted. Light is low over the tables and warm everywhere else. The floor is carpeted, the one place in the building where we covered the oak, because a casino on bare boards is unbearable.
The room holds about ninety people and rarely fills. On a Wednesday there may be twenty; on a Saturday in July it is busy from nine until closing. Either way it is a quiet casino by habit, with no music over the tables and no screens, and conversation happens at the bar.
The bar serves the same list as The Hoist Bar downstairs, and the casino has no drinks list of its own. Drinks are not carried to the tables, so staff will ask you to finish one before you sit down.
At the door
18 and over, with photo ID on every visit.
Polish law sets the legal age for gambling at 18, and the hotel applies it without exception. Everyone who enters the casino shows photo identification at the door on every visit, however often they come and however well the door team knows them. A passport, a national ID card or a driving licence will do; a photograph of a document on a telephone will not.
The door team also registers each entry, as the licence requires. Nobody under 18 is admitted to the second floor at any hour, accompanied or not, and the lift offers no way round the door.
What to wear
Dress smart but not formal: a collar and closed shoes are enough, and a jacket is up to you. Sportswear, beachwear, work boots, team shirts and anything with the hood up will be turned away. A rucksack is fine as long as it goes to the cloakroom.

Limits
Set on the floor, by the people running it.
Every table has its own limits, decided on the floor by the staff who run the room and shifting with the evening and how busy it is, so a website cannot state them in advance. Ask the inspector or the pit staff before you sit down and they will tell you where that table stands. Nobody minds the question, and it saves an awkward minute later.
Staff can also set a personal limit for you, for the night or for a longer period, and hold you to it. Ask at the desk at the head of the stair, or at reception before you come up. The limit is written down and kept to, and it stays between you and the staff.
Taking a break, or stopping altogether
If you want to stop for a while, or for good, self-exclusion is arranged in person at reception on the ground floor. Come to the desk and ask for the duty manager. It takes a few minutes, face to face and in writing, in one conversation. The website has no form for it and it cannot be done by telephone, because we want to be sure it is you asking and to explain what it means before you sign.
The same desk can arrange a shorter break, or a cut-off hour after which the door team will not admit you. Responsible Gaming explains how the house handles all of this.
Money on the floor
Credit is not offered in any form. There is no cash machine in the room, on the stair or in the lobby, and we won't point you to one at two in the morning. Cash and cards are handled at the cash desk inside the room, during opening hours only.
A land-based room
Nothing on this site is a game.
Wislavin Casino is a land-based casino, licensed and run on the hotel's premises in Toruń, and it exists only at that address. This website describes the floor and offers no way to play.
None of these pages carries a game. There is no play-for-fun mode, demo or app, and no account, deposit, withdrawal or payment of any kind through the site. We take bets by neither email nor telephone. A site that appears to offer our casino online is not ours.
The casino will never write to you first, and it runs no mailing list, membership scheme or online registration. Everything on this page happens in one room on the second floor, between seven in the evening and closing, behind a door you walk through.
Questions before you come
Reception answers for the floor as well as the hotel, on +48 56 412 87 30 or at [email protected], and the desk is staffed around the clock.
